Ooty (officially Udhagamandalam) is a hill station located in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located at about 72 km from Coimbatore, 258 km from Kochi, 268 km from Bengaluru and 515 km from the capital city Chennai.
Ooty does not have any commercial airport and the nearest airport is the Coimbatore International Aiport, which is at about 100 km away. It has domestic flights to most of the major cities in India such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkatta and Mumbai and international flights to Sharjah and Singapore.
Ooty has its own railway station but it has limited connectivity. Mettupalayam, which is 47 km away from Ooty, is the nearest major railway station. There are regular train services from Coimbatore and Chennai to Mettupalayam.
Ooty is well connected by roads to the oher towns of Tamil Nadu and other South Indian cities. National Highway NH-67 also passes from Ooty. Regular bus services are available to most of the major towns in the South India such as Mettupalayam, Mysore, Coimbatore, Kochi etc.
