The Athirappilly Falls is situated 1000 ft above sea level on the Chalakudy river, at the entrance to the Sholayar ranges of the Western Ghats, Athirappalli is a scenic combination of forests and little streams. Falling from a height of 80 feet, this is one of the largest waterfalls in the state. Many endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna are found in the forests of the Athirapilly-Vazhachal area. Kumarakom is a village on Vembanad Lake in the backwaters of Kerala, southern India. It’s laced with canals, where houseboats ply the waters. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is home to many species including cuckoos and Siberian storks.

The Vazhachal waterfalls are located very close to the Athirapally Falls and are a part of the Chalakudy river stream. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore sport fishing in the river. Pay a visit to the tribal village, trek to the base of the waterfall. Find your way through the Jungle (On your own & subject to permission from the forest department). Overnight in Athirapally.
Day - 3 - Athirapally - On to Kumarakom (150 km / approx. 4 hour drive)
After breakfast, you will proceed to Kumarakom. Kumarakom is blessed with the Vembanad Lake which has its majestic canals, streams and distributaries along its banks weave an intricate and enchantingly beautiful web. The major attraction of Kumarakom is the Bird Sanctuary which lies at the edge of the grounds of an old estate where a profusion of all kinds of birds can be observed. Domestic birds such as cuckoo, wild duck, egrets, darters, herons, teal, and waterfowl can be seen in abundance here, as much as can the Siberian storks which migrate to this place each year. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this beautiful city on your own. Overnight in Kumarakom.
Day - 4 - Depart Kumarakom - On to Kochi (100 km / approx. 3 hour drive )
