Kottayam climate is moderate and pleasant with annual temperatures range between 20 to 35 °C. The South-west monsoon brings heavy rains in the months from June to September and from October to December the city receives light rain from the northwest monsoon with average annual rainfall 3200 mm.
Summers in the city starts from March to May. The months of October and November constitute the post-monsoon when day temperature increases gradually and the heat is nearly as intense as in summer. The months of December to February form the north – east monsoon. Rain ceases early in January.
