Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Leh | Sightseeing in Leh
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Arrive in Leh and check in at the hotel. Allow time till lunch for acclimatisation. After lunch, visit Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace in the city. Spend the evening exploring the local market. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Sham Valley and Alchi
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, depart for sightseeing. Stop by the 1000-year-old Alchi Monastery, the only Gompa on flat ground in the Ladakh region. Thereafter, proceed to the Likir Monastery and see the splendid 75-feet gold statue of Buddha. You will also see the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Hill (where cars seem to defy gravity) and Basgo Palace. The Leh Hall of Fame is a museum with memorabilia from the Kargil War. Return to Leh and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Sightseeing around Leh

After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to visit the Hemis Monastery, situated 45 km west of Leh. Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you will be driven back along the same road to Thiksey Monastery, located on a hillock with formidable views of the Indus Valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace, the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Located nearby is the Druk Pema School that featured in the popular Hindi film ‘3 Idiots’. You will also see the site of the annual Sindhu Darshan Festival. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.

Day 4: Tour of Khardung La Pass, Nubra Valley and Hunder sand dunes
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La, the highest motorable road in the world at 18,380 feet. The road crosses a bridge laid on a glacier which has even found a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records. Arrive in Hunder in the afternoon. After lunch, explore nearby villages. If you are lucky, you may see two-humped camels in the region. Overnight stay at Nubra camp.

Day 5: Return from Nubra to Leh (with sightseeing on the way)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, proceed to visit the Diskit Monastery which is more than 500 years old. It is situated on a hill and offers an excellent panoramic view of the valley. Later, walk around the town of Diskit which has a small village market. Head next to the Samsthaling Monastery, Panamik (a scenic village on the way to the Siachen Glacier Base Camp) and Yarab Tso Lake. Take the Khardung La Pass once again and return to Leh. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.

Day 6: Trip to Pangong Lake
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After an early breakfast, leave for Pangong Lake, situated at an altitude of 14,500 feet. You will drive through the Chang La Pass at 17,350 feet. It is the third highest motorable road in the world. Pangong Lake spreads from India to Tibet with 60% of the lake lying in China. The lake changes colour throughout the day, from deep blue to aquamarine depending upon the sunlight. Return to Leh and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Depart from Leh
Meals: No Meals
In the morning, go to the airport in time for your return flight.
